Leave a note for the Living Theatre Workshops
[ New entry ]
Participating in The Living Theatre Workshop was one of the best and rewarding pieces of theatre I have ever done. Not only did it allow me to truly feel comfortable in front of an audience for the first time, but offered a unique opportunity to explore different aspects of theatre that I have not explored before. So thank you Living Theatre for this one-of-a-kind experience!
This workshop was so much fun and it was really refreshing for someone who hardly gets to act anymore. I am so happy that Jerry and Lois showed up and helped us explore our abilities of less thought and more reaction. Movement was key and working with others was even more important than individual performances. I really hope they come back to DePauw so we can all have a reunion!
The Living Theatre really gave me the opportunity to experience something out of the ordinary. Having no prior experience with performance, I was able to really get out of my comfort zone in a fun, creative way. Both Lois and Jerry were able to lead a group of 10 individuals to perform a show with only four days of rehearsal. The performance had a great audience and we were really able to leave people with a message at the end of it. It was great.
I was in part of the living theatre performance. I had a great time. It's an experience I've never had before. I met many cool friends and learned something meaningful. Thank you for holding that!
Lois and Jerry returned to Skidmore this February for the 5th time! Our students feel honored to work with these members of the Living Theater, and as in past workshops, Jerry and Lois demonstrated their passion for the theater ,and their devotion to the mission of the Living Theater. Our students are inspired by them, and learn valuable ensemble building and performance techniques. They learned how to build a theater piece based on issues important to them, and issues of concern to the college. Lois and Jerry also helped them to connect these concerns to a more global view.
Whether students had previous performance experience or not, all were able to find a way into the workshop exercises and achieve confidence in their final group performance in front of about 140 people right outside the dining hall.
All along the way Jerry and Lois were patient, enthusiastic, disciplined. They always had a plan of action for each session that was engaging, and added to the techniques necessary for the workshop performance.
They are generous artists, and we always look forward to more workshops with them!
